Waxing Dos
- Exfoliate gently 24-48 hours before your wax.
- Arrive clean for your appointment.
- Wear loose-fitting clothing to your appointment.
- Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated.
- Come on time to your appointment.
- Communicate openly with your esthetician about medications you’re taking (like Accutane, Retin-A, or antibiotics).
- Follow aftercare instructions for the best results.
Waxing Don'ts
- Apply lotions, oils, or deodorants before your appointment.
- Take extremely hot showers, use a sauna, or pools for 24 hours after waxing.
- Have sex or do strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours post-wax.
- Shave between waxing sessions, as it affects the quality of your wax experience.
- Sunbathe, tan, or get a spray tan 24-48 hours before and after waxing. (Freshly waxed skin is extra vulnerable to sunburn and irritation.)
- Pick, scratch, or touch freshly waxed areas excessively. (Even clean hands can introduce bacteria.)
- Apply makeup, perfumes, or heavy body sprays on freshly waxed areas, especially if you’ve had facial waxing.

FAQs
When should I avoid waxing?
Avoid waxing if you have:
- A recent sunburn
- Open wounds or active infections in the waxing area
- Recent chemical peels, laser treatments, or microdermabrasion
- Certain medical conditions (always consult your doctor if unsure)
Can I take medications like Accutane or Retin-A?
If you are currently taking Accutane, you cannot be waxed — your skin is too fragile and could lift. Retin-A and similar topical treatments also thin the skin, so you’ll need to discontinue use at least 14 days before waxing. Always disclose any medications you’re using prior to your appointment.
What’s the difference between a bikini, full bikini, and Brazilian wax?
Most guests schedule appointments every 3-4 weeks for optimal results.
How long should my hair be before waxing?
For best results, hair should be at least ¼ inch long (about the length of a grain of rice).
Does waxing hurt?
Yes, but I use techniques to help minimize pain during your wax. Pain tolerance varies by person, but waxing is generally quick and manageable. Regular waxing helps minimize discomfort over time.
Can I wax if I have sensitive skin?
Yes! Let me know about any skin sensitivities so I can adjust the treatment accordingly.
